(Akron, Oh.) The Akon-Canton Airport is warning customers their personal information might be compromised after a cyber attack on their website akroncantonairport.com Saturday morning. The attack came from a Turkishajan Group, the same group that hacked into The City of Akron's website last week.
Airport officials say the group targeted names, email addresses, cities and phone numbers of customers, or anyone who entered an online airport contest.
No email passwords or credit card numbers were on the website, and no passenger information or flight itinerary has been compromised.
The FBI is assisting with the investigation.
Airport Spokeswoman Kristie Van Auken released the following statement:
"We are working with our web consultants to ascertain how the attack occurred and intend to reassess all of our web protocols and implement any needed improvements at the appropriate time."
