Mad Cactus closing

(Strongsville) In May of 2011 Mad Cactus of Strongsville was in the national spotlight after being featured on The Food Network's restaurant makeover show "Restaurant Impossible".

The restaurant went through a full renovation for the show, new decor, new tables, and a new menu. Now, owner Tom Krukemeyer has announced that he plans to close for good, but he's not saying whether or not it's because of those changes. All he said was "I'm curious as to how many restaurants were hurt by "Restaurant Impossible"".

Crukemeyer says there's an end to every story. The Mad Cactus had been a fixture in Strongsville for 28 years, known for their ribs and their patio.

During the grand opening following the "Restaurant Impossible" makeover, several long-time patrons came curious as to how different the restaurant would be.

The new Mad Cactus featured a salsa bar and an authentic Mexican menu, but they did maintain their famous ribs. Krukemeyer did maintain the property, but he won't reveal any plans for a future restaurant.

The last day of business for the Mad Cactus is July 21st.  Get breaking news sent to your mobile phone.Text "news" to 21095.
