At the Shendiaoshan Wild Animal Nature Reserve in Weihai, China, an elephant named Shanmai recently delighted onlookers when he retrieved a baby's shoe that had fallen into his enclosure and gently handed it back using his trunk.
Initially mistaking the shoe for food, Shanmai realized his mistake and carefully returned the item to its young owner.
The thoughtful act earned the elephant a tasty reward of watermelon from his keeper.
